Claus Nissen, a well known resident of Columbus City, died at his home in that city Sunday morning, February 27, 1916. at 6 o'clock, after an illness of several months attendant upon his advanced age. Mr. Nissen was born in Germany in the province of Schleswig-Holstein, November 6, 1831. In 1867 he came to America and the following year he came to Louisa county, making this county his home until his death. He farmed for many years for G. D. Harrison. After the death of his first wife many years ago he was united in marriage March 30, 1905, to Mrs. Katherine Bretz, who survives to mourn his death. In early life Mr. Nissen became a Christian and united with the Lutheran church in Germany. He retained his membership in this church until about for years ago he transferred his membership to the United Brethern church at Columbus City. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home at one thirty, after which the body was taken to the United Brethern church where funeral sermon was delivered by Rev. R. J. Allred. Interment in the Columbus City cemetery.
