John Wasson, a well known resident of Conesville, who was severely injured by a fall, Monday, January 24th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Adams, died Sunday morning at three o'clock. Mr. Wasson received a fractured hip when he fall and this with his advanced age hastened his death. Mr. Wasson was a native of this county, having been born near Morning Sun, January 1, 1841. He is a survivor of the Civil War having enlisted in Co. H. of the First Iowa Infantry in 1861 and later served in the 17th. He was united in marriage, February 24, 1867 to Anna Jane Trader and to them were born ten children, three of whom with the mother preceded him in death. T

he surviving children are Mrs. Elizabeth Metzgar, of Winfied, Mrs. Kate Adams and William Wasson, of Cone, John Wasson, of Lone Tree, Henry Wasson and Mrs. Nancy Harman, of Oklahoma and Samuel, of Carville, Iowa. He is also survived by one brother, H. K. Wasson, of Springfield, Missouri and one sister, Mrs. Ella Trader, of Muscatine, Sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild survive. Mr. Wasson united with the Evangelical church at Spring Run thirteen years ago and last spring became associated with the Methodist church at Cone. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church at Cone conducted by Rev. H. F. Butler. Interment in the Conesville cemetery.
