Wm C. Hill, a prominent business man of Columbus Junction for the past fifteen years, died at his home in this city Sunday afternoon, at 1:15 after an illness of several months. William C. Hill was born at Hillsboro, Illinois, April 16, 1848 and at the age of two years he came to Iowa with his parents and located on a farm near Cone. Here he grew to manhood and March 5, 1871, he was united in marriage to Miss Nora Marshall, the ceremony being performed at Iowa City. Mr. and Mrs. Hill then made their home in the vicinity of Conesville and Iowa City until 1890 when they moved to Louisiana, Missouri where Mr. Hill engaged in the grocery business and later acquired a furniture store and other business interests.

Disposing of these interests in 1900 Mr. Hill returned with his family to this city and was associated with his son, L. C. Hill, in the purchase and establishment of grocery and dry goods store in this city which by careful management and practical business methods they have developed into one of the mist successful business institution in this city. Mr. Hill was a quiet, unassuming man, highly respected by all with whom he came to contact. He was a member of no fraternal society or organization but believed firmly in doing to others as he would have others do to him and lived an upright, conscientious and true life.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, L. C. Hill and Claude M. Hill, and three daughters, Mrs. J. M.. Norris, Mrs. E. E. Griffith and Mrs. J. W. Reed, all of whom reside in this city and vicinity. The funeral services were held at the home at two o'clock, Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E. C. Brooks. Interment was made in the Columbus City cemetery.
