Mrs. John S. Wykert. Emily L. Ludlow was born near Long Creek on the Dunham farm, September 11, 1843 and died at her home at Louisa Center after a short illness of heart trouble, December 18, 1915, being 72 years, 3 months and 7 days of age. She was the daughter of Francis and Rhoda Ludlow, early pioneers of Louisa county, and was the last survivor of a large family of brothers and sisters. She became early impressed with a sense of duty to her God, confessed by his name and united with the Columbus City Baptist church in 1860 and later transferred her membership to Louisa Center Baptist church of which she was a member at the time of her death.

In August 1868 she was united in marriage to Oliver H. Boden at Burlington, Iowa. To this union was born two children, Mrs. Rhoda Brookins, of Jewel county, Kansas and Minnie, dying at the age of six years. On March 3rd, 1900, after an illness of only five days death deprived her of a kind and loving husband. She was again united in marriage to John S. Wykert May 28, 1903, who still survives her and who with a number of step children along with the daughter and grandchildren will miss the kindly ministrations of a loving mother. In her departure the church has lost a consistent christian member, the home a faithful and devoted mother, the community a kind and true neighbor. Funeral services were conducted at the Louisa Center Baptist church by Rev. Mr. Schutz, Monday afternoon at two o'clock. Interment at the Columbus City cemetery.
