Mrs. James K. Helmick, one the highly esteemed and well known women of Louisa county, died at 12:30 a. m. Wednesday morning, February 10, 1915. Mrs. Helmick has not enjoyed the best of health for several years but her condition was not considered serious until the first of this week when she suddenly became worse failing rapidly until called away by the messenger of death. Her two children, James and Mabel, who are seniors at Ames college, were notified at once of the sudden change for the worse, They started immediately for Columbus Junction, but owing to the fact that the train from the north was two hours late they did not reach their home six miles southwest of this city until fifteen minutes after her death.

Mrs. Helmick's maiden name was Martha Jane Dunlavey and she was born in this state at Floris, April 17, 1861. She was married in 1879 to James K. Helmick and moved with him to the farm which remained her home until the time of her death. She was a member of the Methodist church at Columbus City. She leaves to her children and her husband the memory of mother's devoted love and sacrifice, She is survived by her husband and two children, James and Mabel and six brothers, Anthony Dunlavey, of Salt Lake City, John M., of Bloomfield; George, of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Frank of Sulpher, Oklahoma, James of Namiac, Oklahoma and Lee, of Attica, Iowa. The funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon, at the home at 12:30 o'clock and at 2 o'clock at the Methodist Episcopal church at Columbus City. Rev. Fred Smith of Hazletn, will have charge of the services. Interment will be made in the Columbus City cemetery.
