Mrs. R. F. Duncan, a prominent and well known resident of this city, died at the Bellevue hospital at Muscatine, Friday morning, November 27, 1914, following an operation some days previously. She rallied from this and reports from Muscatine were encouraging until Friday evening a sudden turn for the worse soon resulted in death. Melissa Bobo, daughter of Jacob and Roseanna Bobo, was born at Vinton station in Vinton county, Ohio, February 8, 1849 and at the time of her death she was sixty-five years, nine months and nineteen days of age. She came to Iowa in early life and was united in marriage to R. F. Duncan, March 9, 1970.

She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Ollie Shearer, of this city and Mrs. S. S. Wilcox, of Ainsworth. One daughter, Mrs. Ella Hendrickson, preceded her in death a little less than a year ago. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Harry Cobb, Alma Jane Shearer and Olive Mary Wilcox. Three sisters, Mrs. J. B. O'Connor, of this city, Mrs. Henry Elliot, of Kellerton and Mrs. S.W. Edmondson, of Muscatine and one brother, Harrison Bobo, of Davenport, also mourn her death. Mrs. Duncan united with the Reformed church many years before her death and remained a loyal and devoted member until she was called to her final reward. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon. Rev. T. M. Balcoff read the scripture lesson and led in prayer. Rev. C. E. Ewing, of Cone, then spoke. Interment in the Columbus City cemetery.
