Charles Edgar Frost, one of the most highly esteemed residents of the county, died at his home at Wapello at midnight Saturday. He had been in ill health since last September but until the past week improvement had been noted in his condition with the hope that ultimate recovery would result, but a sudden turn for the worse ended in his death Saturday night. Mr. Frost located at Wapello about ten years ago, entering the drug business and soon became one of the most prominent men in the city. He was born in Washington county Ohio, November 16, 1840. He served throughout the civil war as a member of the Ninth Virginia volunteers, a regiment that gave a good account of itself among the union forces.

He was married to Miss Ida Doty, at Oxford, Iowa and is survived by his widow and three sons as follows: Charles, of Oxford; Pearl, wife of J. R. Perry, of Woodward, Iowa and Avilda, wife of Raymond Davison of Wapello. The funeral was held from the late residence Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock the casket remaining open until that hour. Members of the Masonic lodge and the G.A. R. attended in a body, the ritualistic service of the Masons being read. Rev. E. C. Brooks, of this city, assisted by Rev. A. W. McBlain, officiated.
