Mrs. Mary Lane. The life on earth of one of Columbus Junction's most devoted and consecrated Christian woman was brought to a close Sunday afternoon at 12:30 P. M. when the angel of death summoned to its Heavenly home the spirit of Mrs. M. L. Lane. Mary Lavina Iddings was born in Dayton, Ohio, August 24th, 1850. At the age of two years she came to Iowa with her father, William Iddings, who resided for several years at Muscatine. She was married in Des Moines, Iowa, October 1, 1875 to Mr. George H. Lane who is now after thirty-eight years of companionship with her, left alone to mourn her death. To them was born one daughter, Emma, who died at the age of ten years.

When Mrs. Lane was but a young girl she was concerted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church of which she remained a faithful member until the day of her death. Immediately after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Lane moved to Columbus Junction and at once she took a prominent place among the church of our city. She is survived by her husband, one brother, C. R. Iddings of Missouri; and three half-sisters, Mrs. Emma Freeman, of Shell City, Missouri, who has been with her during hr illness, Mrs. Cora Davis, of Harwood, Missouri and Mrs. T. L. Ray, of Ft. Worth, Texas and one half brother, Thomas Iddings, of Oklahoma and her step mother of Shell City, Missouri. The funeral service was held at the Methodist Episcopal church at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, May 12, 1912 and was conduced by her pastor, Rev. E. C. Brooks, assisted by Rev. A. W. McBlain of Wapello. The remains were taken to Columbus City.
