Matthew Davis McNatton was born in Davis county, Missouri, July 21, 1845 and died May 25, 1914, at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 4 days. The deceased was a Civil war veteran having twice enlisted in the 8th Iowa. He was united in marriage to Mary Jane Lewis January 5, 1866, at Buffalo, Iowa. to this union 11 children were born. Seven of whom have preceded him in death. Those surviving are: Adam, William and Inez of Columbus Junction and Mrs. Eva Prettyman of North Platte, Nebraska, who with his wife, one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Blake and five grandchildren, are left to mourn his loss. The funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal church of Columbus Junction, on Wednesday May 27, at 2 p. m. Conducted by the Rev. E. C. Brooks. Interment in the Columbus City cemetery.
