Reuben William Blair son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Blair, was on the farm near Columbus Junction, July 5, 1889. At the age of eleven he came to Columbus Junction with his parents and attended the local schools graduating with the class of 1903. After his graduation he attended the State University at Iowa City one year and the following year he took a course at the Muscatine Business College. The next year he went to Longmont, Colorado; and the two years following he spent at Mitchell, S. D., where he had a good position and put into practical use his business education.

From Mitchell he went to Texas where he was engaged with a large wholesale grocery firm where his ability was soon recognized and he was made manager of the firm, transacting a large business in Texas as well as Oklahoma and other southern states. A little over a year ago he returned to Columbus Junction and accepted a position with the Rock Island R. R. Co. at the local depot with position he filled until about two weeks ago he was forced to relinquish his duties on account of illness which proved to be typhoid fever. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Blair and two sisters, Mrs. W. R. Lytle of Mitchell, S. D. and Miss Nettie, at home. The funeral services will be held at the home Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and will be conducted by Rev. C. W. Ewing.
