Mrs. Josephine Hamer Johnson was born July 5, 1860 in Dexter, Ohio and died December 5, 1913, near Columbus Junction being 53 years, and 6 months of age. She grew to young womanhood in her native home then came to Ainsworth, Iowa, to visit a sister. Here she was married December 24, 1877 to George Johnson, who lived then at the present home southwest of Columbus City and where all the years of their married life was spent. To this union four children were born: Gertrude Lee, at home; Mrs. Edna Wanzer, of Columbus Junction; Fred Hamer, who died in infancy and Ralph at home. Besides husband and children she leaves two brothers and one sister in Ohio and one brother in California. At the tender age of eleven years she found a precious Savior in the Son of God. She moved her letter to the Columbus City Baptist church soon after coming to Iowa. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church at Columbus City Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Elder B. L. Nay, of Mediapolis. Interment was made in the Columbus City cemetery.
