Dr. G. W. Armentrout passed away suddenly at his home at Letts Sunday morning November 2. His lifeless body was discovered by his wife about 7 o'clock. She thought at first that he was unconscious and summoned Dr. Eland, who found life to be extinct. It is presumed that heart failure was the cause of his demise. He had retired in his usual good health on Saturday evening, following an all day hunt with his two sons, Gerald and Raymond. The sudden death of Dr. Armentrout occasioned a shock in the community in which he was so well known. The decedent was recognized as one of the most skilled physicians and surgeons in Louisa county. He was fifty years of age September 7th, 1913. He was graduated from the Keokuk Medical College and after practicing there for one year, removed to Letts, where he has resided for the past twenty four years. Dr. Armentrout was an active member of the Methodist church. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Gerald and Raymond and one daughter Mary Olive. Four sisters also mourn his loss. The funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. T. G. Barker officiating. Interment was made in the Letts cemetery.
