E. P. Ogier, a well known citizen of Columbus Junction, passed away at this home on West Hill, Saturday, September 13, 1913, after a brief illness with typhoid fever. Mr. Ogier was well liked by all who knew him and his death in the prime of life cast a loom of sorrow in the hearts of his many friends here and in Dutch Ridge, his former home. Elmer Peter Ogier was born in Louisa county, January 29, 1865 and at the time of his decease he was 48 years, 7 months and 14 days of age. He was united in marriage to Miss Anna P. Brewer September 11, 1889 and to this union eight children were born, two of whom died in infancy. He is survived by his wife and three daughters, and three sons, Flossie E., Harvey R., Lee R., Margaret, Agnes and Glenn, all of whom are at home. He is also survived by four brothers, Tom and George of Hot Springs, Ark., John of Wapello and Lyman of near Cairo and one sister, Mrs. Elliot Bowman, of Corydon. Deceased was a kind father and a man who was ready to lend a helping hand to anyone. Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. A. W. McBlain. Interment was made in the Columbus City cemetery.
