Wyman Lee, the eighteen year old son of Mr and Mrs. L. B. Lee, of Letts, was drowned the afternoon of July 4th, while swimming with a party of friends in the Cedar River about one mile south of the Milwaukee railroad bridge. He was not an experienced swimmer and unawares he stepped into a place beyond his depth. His companions heard his calls for aid and went to his assistance but before they could reach him his body had disappeared in the muddy water and all efforts to find it were unavailing. The alarm was given at once and searching parties organized to patrol the river but it was not until Sunday afternoon that the body was discovered almost two miles farther down stream by Leonard George, Isaac Blake and Ralph Wagner. The body was taken to Letts for interment. Wyman Lee was born June 6, 1895 and died July 4, 1913. He was a promising young man and his death is mourned by hosts of friends. His father and mother and two sisters, Ruby and Winifred, remain to mourn.
