Mrs. Esther Blake a pioneer and well known resident of this city, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alice Westfall, Wednesday morning, march 12, 1913. Mrs. Blake was born at Crown Point, Indiana, January 5, 1831 and came to Louisa county in 1850. The following year she was united in marriage to Joseph Blake of this county and assisted materially in developing this pioneer county. To them were born five children, three of whom have passed tot he unknown world beyond. Two daughters, Mrs. Alice Westfall and Mrs. C. H. Bell of city survive. Mr. Blake preceded her in death about thirty years ago. Funeral services were held at the home this afternoon at 1 o'clock conducted by Rev. T. M. Balcoff. Interment will be made in the Carpenter cemetery near Oakland.
