Elias Washington Oliver was born in Adams county, Ill., Nov. 2, 1836 and died at Oklahoma City, Okla., Feb. 10, 1913, aged 76 years, 3 months and 8 days. He was of Scotch descent and grew to manhood on the farm in his native state. For a time he engaged to agricultural and mercantile pursuits and was married Oct. 18, 1860 to Miss Mary Walker, who was born in Pendelton county, Kentucky. To this union was born six children, three dying in early infancy while the widow, two sons, Mack W., and Rufus Wilson, and a daughter Cora A. Moisberry, survive him.

From 1863 to within a three years prior to the time of his death he was continuously engage in the photograph business. In 1889 he removed to Columbus Junction where he had been in business for 7 years to the new territory of Oklahoma and to what afterwards became its most prosperous and thriving city, Oklahoma City. As one of the Pioneers and the first photographer of this city he took part in its early development. Forty years ago he was converted and has ever since led a consistent Christian life and was a member of the First M. E. church at Oklahoma City at the time of his death. The remains were brought to this city Thursday evening accompanied by his daughter, Mrs. F. M. Moisberry, who was present at his bedside during his illness and death, and taken to the Moisberry home where the funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon by Rev. A. W. McBlain. Interment in the Columbus City cemetery.
