James William Hines was born April 9, 1879 and departed this life February 15, 1913 at the age of 33 years, 10 months and 6 days. His illness was general peritonitis and the physicians decided an operation would be futile, yet all possible aid was rendered. We saw the end approaching and Will entered into that eternal haven of rest Saturday at the noon hour. Deceased was born and raised and lived on the old homestead here and we can speak of him with high respect. He was interested in the school and school children and served in various public offices at different times and occupied several positions of trust. One of his most beautiful characteristics was his loyalty to all his friends.

Just two years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Nettie J. Johnson of Morning Sun and she with one son, Robert, 14 months old survives. His aged mother mourns as one bereft of all for Will was her only boy. Eight brothers and sisters had preceded him in death and six sisters remain to mourn. They are Mrs. Blanche McComas of Brainard, Minn., who on account of illness could not be present, Mrs. Lizzie Kennedy of Fredonia; Mrs. Julia McCollister of near Lone Tree; Mrs. Nellie Garard of Gladwin; Mrs. Kate Hoben, a twin sister, who resides near Gladwin; Mrs. Agnes Morse of Washington. Will was a communicant of the Catholic faith. He died as he had lived, trusting in his Savior. Rev. George Blagg of Morning Sun, who had been the officiating clergyman at their marriage had charge of the funeral services. Services were held at the Swank Temple Union and were attended by a large audience.
