page 5John Williams of the west Welsh Neighborhood, not far from Crawfordsville was instantly killed by lightning Saturday afternoon. He had been mowing grass and when he saw the storm coming started to drive to the barn. Some neighbors saw him fall from the mower and ran to his assistance, but his death had been instantaneous. The horses were knocked down but they soon revived. Mr. Williams had lived in that vicinity since boyhood. He is survived by his wife and three daughters, the elder about seventeen years of age. Besides these he leaves two brothers, Elias, of the Welsh Neighborhood, and David, of Wapello and two sisters, Mrs. William Williams, of that neighborhood and Mrs. David Evans, of Emmerson, Kansas. The funeral was held at the home Monday morning; interment at Crawfordsville at 10 o'clock the same day.
