Netta Lewis- Netta Johnson was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Newton Johnston. She was born at their home near Old Clifton, March 25, 1875. There she grew to almost woman hood when she with her widowed mother and other family members moved to Columbus City, and here she lived, was married, became a mother and from here she was called home. She was educated in the Columbus City schools, following her course there with one in Cedar Falls. After her return, she taught school a few terms before she became the wife of Dr. Lewis. Him she married December 30, 1896. To them were born four children; Averil, David, Burdette and Ruth; Averil is nine, Ruth only four years old. Besides her husband and children and a heart broken mother, she leaves three sisters, Mina, Carrie and Blanche, and five brothers, Howard, Charles, Roll, Lee and Arthur, to mourn over her going away. Lee lives in Oklahoma, Arthur in Michigan. The funeral services are fixed at 2 o'clock, Thursday afternoon, at the U.P. church conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. C. Marshall.
