Mr. Wm. F. Orr was born in Blount county, Tennessee, august 4, 1842, and died at his home in Columbus Junction, March 2, 1907. He came to Iowa when only two years of age. He was married to Theresa Ann Shaw, September 17, 1863. To this union were born six children, two sons and four daughters. Of these, three daughters, Susannah, Elizabeth and Gertie, died when quite young. Those living are Mrs. Luella J. Crow and Albert V. Orr of Muscatine and Fred W. Orr of this place. Mrs. Crow was unable to attend her father's funeral as she is very sick at her home. The first wife died July 11, 1898. He was married to Mrs. Hattie Butcher November 29, 1900, who survives him. Besides these, he leaves one sister, Mrs. Josephine Pickene, of Ainsworth and one brother, Robert, of near this place. Mr. Orr was a faithful union soldier, a serving in the 11th Iowa infantry. The funeral was held at the home Monday, March 4, at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. R. D. Pool. The G. A. R. post of this place attended the funeral and paid the last tribute of respect to their depart comrade. The burial was at the Foster cemetery in Union township.
