One of the most heart rending accidents that has occurred in this count in a long time was that by which little Robert Elnathan Bliven, youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. John Bliven of Concord township lost his life last Saturday. Mrs. Bliven was out in the yard and heard the little fellow scream and rushed in to find the child's clothes in flames. She wrapped her own clothes about the child and put out the fire but he was found to be frightfully burned and had inhaled flame and the smoke. Dr. Frank Hubbard was called at once and dressed his wounds and everything possible was done for him, but at 10 o'clock at night, just about twelve hours after the accident, death released the little sufferer and he quietly passed away. He was born in Columbus Junction three years ago in April. He was the baby and the pet of the household and the grief of the family over his sad taking away can hardly be imagined. Mr. and Mrs. Bliven have six remaining children; three girls and three boys, two daughters having passed to the Beyond before little Nathan, each one as the result of an accident. The funeral of little Nathan was held in the Presbyterian church at Columbus Junction at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Vance, pastor of the church. The pall bearers were four little girls dressed in white. They were Misses Maudie George, Edith Williams, Sweete Johnston and Etta Wagner. The interment was in the Columbus City cemetery.
