It was a great shock to those who knew him here to learn of the death of Samuel Edmondson at his home in Muscatine Monday night, March 12. Mr. Edmondson was born in Union township January 26, 1853, on the farm now occupied by George McKay. He lived all this life in this immediate vicinity until about three years since, when he moved to Muscatine. In ? he was married to Miss Annie Bobo who, with the nine children born to them, survives the husband. The children are, Mrs. Edith Armbright, Robert, Haddie, Cecil, Rose, Ora, Alwin, Mabel and Duane. The first is a widow and with her little child made her home with her parents, and Robert is married. Besides his immediate family, Mr. Edmondson is mourned by two brothers and two sisters, J. C. Edmondson of Ainsworth, David of Arbels, Mo., and Mmes. Jame Guinn of Morning Star, Tenn., and Eliza Walcott of Clarinda. The two brothers attended the funeral which occurred on Wednesday afternoon from the Reformed church, the remains having been brought from Muscatine in the morning and taken to the home of Mrs. Edmondson's sister, Mrs. R. F. Duncan of this place; the sisters were unable to be present. Rev. Lafever conducted the services. Burial followed in the Columbus City cemetery. Mr. Edmondson's death was entirely unexpected as he was ill only about three days with pneumonia.
