Mrs. Martha A. Jones, widow of the late Barton M. Jones died at her home near Spring Run, Sunday, July 18, 1905, at 1:30 in the afternoon. She had been sick of at least ailing since February, 1904, when she suffered from a paralytic stroke. She never entirely rallied but gradually grew worse.

She was born in Ohio, July 10, 1833 thus was a few days over 72 years of age. She married Barton Jones, in Illinois, in 1851 and came with him to Iowa in 1853 settling on the farm near Spring Run which continued to be the home of both until called to their long home. Mr. Jones died in 1899, since which her oldest daughter, Mary E. Jones and youngest son, Marshall E. Jones and she continued the household. Besides these two she has had six children born to her, two of whom died in infancy; the others are all living. They are Rev. L. A., of Anita, Daniel of Washington, Hayes of Elm Grove township and Mrs. E. C. Buffington of Columbus Junction. She also leaves two brothers A. K. Enyart of Spring Run and J. L. Enyart of Princeton, Illinois. She had two sisters, Mrs. Sidney Hall and Mrs. Gorge Adams, living in Nebraska. She was a member of the united Evangelical church and held her membership in the Spring Run church. The funeral was conducted from the church, Tuesday at 11 o'clock, by her pastor, Rev. L. H. Wood, of Grandview. Interment beside her husband in Spring Run cemetery.
