George Boulton was born in England, May 19, 1830. He died at his home near Columbus City, July 22, 1905. This made him a little over seventy-five years old at the time of his death, which was very sudden and unexpected. He was in Columbus Junction in the afternoon and was apparently in his usual health. Soon after reaching home he complained of not feeling well and Dr. F. L. Darrow was called, but before he arrived, Mr. Boulton had passed away.

He was the youngest son of Milton and Elizabeth Boulton. He came with his parents to this country in 1837, first locating in Erie county, Ohio. In 1854 he came to Iowa, first settling at Wapello. In March, 1856, he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Blanchard. The young couple settled in Columbus City township which continued their home. To this union eight children were born, Mary E., deceased, became the wife of William Cassabaum; William T. was born in 1859; Abbie C., in 1862, the wife of George Hanft; John E., in 1864; George L., 1866; Weston, in 1869; Edith May, 1876, and Carrie T., in 1876. These are all married except one son, Weston, and all live in this immediate vicinity.

Mr. Boulton was a quiet unassuming and industrious man and a good citizen; a republican in politics and a member of the U. B. church. He acquired a competence for himself and his family by honest industry and frugality. He was a good father and a loving husband and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. His friends extend their heart-felt sympathy to his family, especially to the bereaved and heart broken wife. These mourn, but not as those with out hope. He has gone before, but the memory of his good deeds he left behind will always be a refreshing help to us all. May we all live such a life as his so that like him, when we reach our last station on this earth, we may be transferred tot he Eternal City, where the Master will say "Well done thou good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of thy Lord." His memory and the gospel in which he trusted will prove a comfort in this hour of sorrow. Funeral service were held at U. B. church in Columbus City, Tuesday at 11 o'clock, conducted by his pastor, Rev. William Ballard. The pall bearers were; D. E. Cutcomp, T. F. Hanft, Reuben Heindel, William Rabmiller, M. D. Hanft, J. H. Pretz.
