After an illness extending over a period of several months. Chas. J. Stickney passed away at his home in New Boston, Wednesday, April 5, 1905. He was born on the present site of Columbus Junction, near where what is known as the Philip Thompson place, February 7, 1856, consequently was a little over forty-nine years of age at his death. His father, A. O. Stickney, died in May, 1878; his mother Cornelia R. Trask-Stickney died December, last.

Mr. Stickney was twice married; first in 1881, to Miss Chown. To this union, three children survive; Cyril, aged twenty; Grace, eighteen, and Eddie, thirteen. On November 6, 1900 he was married to Anna Church, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. I. Church, of this pale. She with a little daughter, Georgia, aged two years, survive to mourn. Short services were held at his late home in New Boston and the remains were brought here for interment in the Columbus City cemetery. Funeral service take place this, Thursday afternoon, from the Reformed church conducted by Rev. J. R. Vance. Mr. Stickney was converted several years ago, but, thought he never united with any church, he died in full confidence of a better hereafter.
