Mrs. John Klotz, a long time resident of Louisa county and Union township died at her home at 3 o'clock and 20 minutes, a. m., March 30, 1905. She had a paralytic stroke, December 17, 1900 of which she never fully recovered. Mrs. Klotz, whose maiden name was Emmaline Muthard was born in Lehigh county, Pennsylvania, May 26, 1842 making her at the time of her death, 62 years, 10 months, 4 days of age.

She grew to womanhood and was married in her native state, to John Klotz, January 24, 1864. They came to Iowa the same spring and have ever since been residents of Louisa county. She joined the Lutheran church in Pennsylvania at the age of 14 years and at her death was a member of the St. Paul Reformed church. To this union seven children were born. Those who preceded her in death are Robert A., January 28, 1884 and Maud E., April 20, 1893. Those left to mourn the loss of a good mother are Jerry G, of Lone tree, Horace J. of West Liberty and the Misses Laura, Cora and Rovena, at home. As a mother she was a true woman, caring for her loved ones with such tender love and sympathy that she will be greatly missed. It makes it hard for the loved ones to bear the parting. Funeral services were held at the home at 10 o'clock, Saturday morning, conducted by Rev. Baumgartle, of Conesville. Interment at Columbus City.
