Jackson Bridges was found dead in his bed in Wapello Tuesday morning. He was born September 8, 1817, in Smith county, Tennessee, hence was more then eighty-five years of age at his death. He was married four times and was the father of nineteen children, all by his first and last wives. He was fist married at the age of 17 and to this union were born thirteen children, the most of whom grew to man and womanhood. This wife died in Illinois.

In 1873 he was married to Miss Anna McNeal, his fourth wife, near Grandview. To this union were born William, who lives at Wapello; John, at Shelbyville,Mo; Frank, at Denver, Colorado, and Ivy, who is in the regular army. Tyre, another son, died in infancy and Anna, a daughter, died at the age of seventeen. Of the older children, we have only a partial history of the living and dead. Of these John was born in 1843; was killed in the civil war; Tyner, was born in 1845; Mahalla Woods, who lives in Muscatine, in 1847; Noah, in 1849; Edward and Jane, twins, in 1851; Jeffer, in 1854; Daniel, in 1856; George, in 1858; Emma Daver, who lives in Oregon, in 1861.

Mr. Bridges came to Iowa in an early day. Lived for many years in Grandview; also at Burlington and Conesville before coming to Wapello, where he has had his home for twenty seven years just past. His health has been poor for years; had been confined to his room the past three months. He appeared in usual health at twelve o'clock Monday night and was found dead in the morning. Short funeral services at the home of his son, Will, where he died, Wednesday at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. M. E. Reusch. Burial in Wapello cemetery.
