Mrs. Carrie Allen, wife of W. E. Allen, of 1021 Ripley street, Davenport, died at a hospital in that city, July 16 and was buried in the cemetery at Columbus City, July 20. Her maiden name was Oxley and she was married to Mr. Allen at Wapello over twenty years ago. The husband and one daughter, Mabel, survive her. W. E. Allen is the oldest son of the late Capt. W. G. Allen, of Wapello formerly of this township. Neither Mrs. Allen nor her son Harry were able to attend the funeral, owing to the former's serious sickness. Mrs. Allen's death was the result of a cancerous affection of the liver and she has been in a precarious condition for four or five months.
