Robert Courtney dead. That good man passed away at his home in Concord township Tuesday morning, July 28th, at 9:30 o'clock. He had been in feeble health for years but not in a precarious condition. On Sunday he suffered from a paralytic stroke and never rallied from it. He was born in county Armagh, Ireland, in 1821. Came to America in 1840; to Iowa in 1857 which became his permanent home. In 1850, while living in Kentucky, he was married to Elizabeth Garrett, sister of Barton Garrett, of Letts. She preceded him to the spirit land something over two years. Mr. Courtney leaves no children of his own. He was a republican in politics and a Methodist by profession. Was a man of exalted character and spotless integrity. By his death Louisa county loses one of her most respected citizens. The funeral takes place from the home Thursday; interment at Letts, by the side of his wife.
