Again we are called up to chronicle the departure of one who was loved and respected by all who knew her. Mrs. Lavina C. Bennett near Letts. She was the youngest daughter of Joseph W. and Sarah Dodder, who moved from New Jersey to Iowa in 1842, locating near Grandview, Iowa, where the deceased was born February 25, 1851. Shew as united in marriage to James N. Bennett, in March, 1901, and departed this life October 26, 1901. She was a good and kind neighbor, ever ready to help those in need and a sincere christian. She was converted a number of years ago, and joined the M. E. church at Letts, of which she had continued to be a member, and in which she was a faithful worker. The deceased leaves a husband, a little stepdaughter, three sisters, and two brothers; Mrs. Barton Garrett, and Mrs. E. R. Williams, of Letts, Mrs. G. W. Price, of St. Paul, Howard county, Nebraska, G. W. Dodder of Washington, Iowa and Jasper dodder, in Idaho when last heard from. The services were conducted by Rev. Pool, at the M. E. church at Letts assisted by Rev. Brean, and Rev. Underwood, at 2 o'clock, Monday October 28, 1901. The remains were followed by a large concourse of friends and interred in the Lettsville cemetery.
