Mrs. Ellen Thompson has died. Ellen Shepherd was born in Butler county, Ohio, October 15, 1823, and died at her home in Union township, Louisa county, Iowa, September 15, 1901, being 77 years, and 11 months old. She came to Iowa in 1841 and was united in marriage with Stephen B. Thompson January 2, 1848. With her husband she lived on one farm more than 52 years. Twelve children were born of the union. Those living are O. U. of Texas, E. S. and S. B. of this place and one daughter, Mrs. Emma L. Hutchinson of Muscatine, Iowa. These with her husband are left to mourn her loss. The funeral services were held at the house September 17, conducted by Rev. Tussey of Columbus City. She was laid to rest in the Columbus City cemetery.
