John Turner, father of George Turner of this place, died very suddenly at his home in Morning Sun, in the east part of the town, last Friday evening. He had eaten a hearty supper, and had his usual smoke, and seemed in his accustomed health just before death came. The real cause of his death is not known.

He was 78 years old and had lived in Morning Sun two years, going there from Columbus Junction. He was born in Ohio and had ? in the war. Two children survive him, Rebecca of Fairfield and George of this place The latter attended the funeral, at Morning Sun, yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Parvin. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery there.
