page 8Died, at the home of his parents, Vern, the youngest child and only son of Charlie Hartsock and wife. Little Vern breathed his last August 9, 1896, aged two months and sixteen days, after 8 days of suffering. He had taken sick suddenly and was very bad from the beginning. This is the second little son the fond parents have lost by death. Vern Hartsock was the grandchild of Ben Brown and wife of near Bard. Just two weeks ago the same Mr. Brown and wife stood by the open grave of another little grandson, Earnest O. Odle. His little body was laid to rest in the Wapello Cemetery, August 10, 1896.
