Mrs. C. A. Sprague dead.

Alice Glasgow was born in Washington county, IA, Feb. 23, 1857, and died at her home in this place Jan. 31, 1896. On Oct. 16, 1879, she was united in marriage to Mr. C. A. Sprague, who with three lovely children is left to mourn. For months she had been struggling against that subtle foe of human life, consumption. But although her death was not unexpected, yet the announcement of it was made almost in whispers, and a gloom seemed to enshroud her friends, from which they could hardly escape. Her life was quiet and unostentatious, yet her culture and womanly worth cast a benign inflence over a large circle of friends and associates. Her character was that of a true, confiding Christian, and the loved ones left behind do not weep without hope. They know the parting is not forever, and the presence of wife and mother in the realms of the blest will be like a beacon light to guide them onward and upward. The funeral service was conducted at the house Sunday afternoon by her pastor, Rev. J. A. Greer, assisted by Rev. Cooper. The interment was at Washington on Monday. Mrs. Glasgow, the aged mother of the deceased, was critically ill at the home of her daughter for some time. She died yesterday. This makes double bereavement for the afflicted family.
