The community were shocked on Tuesday afternoon to hear of the sudden death of Mrs. J. H. Brewer living on Spring Run south of this place. Mrs. B. was in her usual health, to all appearances, until the moment that she sank into an arm chair-her usual scat-and before her friends who were in the room could reach her, expired without a struggle. Her age was about 73 years. The funeral will be from the church at Spring Run on Thursday at 10 o'clock.

Caroline M. Mann was born in Pennsylvania, July 4, 1820 and died Aug. 6, 1893, aged 73 years, 1 month and 2 days. Deceased was married to John H. Brewer in 1843 and came to Iowa in 1857. They have lived at Spring run for 38 years, where also she died and received the last rites from loving friends and neighbors. Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Brewer, seven of whom survive; five daughters an two sons, all married. The funeral was conducted by Rev. M. J. Pusey, assisted by her pastor, Rev. Ramlage of the Evangelical church to which she had belonged most of her life. Burial at Pitchin cemetery.
