Victor Dalmas died at his home in Marshall township, Wednesday morning last, of injuries received in a runaway accident some month ago. He was born in Senargent department Haute Saone, France, January 12, 1845. This made him some months under fifty at the time of his death. He came with his parents, Francis and Ursula Dalmasse in 1851, landing at New Orleans, Louisiana. The most of his boyhood days were spent near Nauvoo, Hancock county, Illinois. He susequently lived a short while in Missouri before making Iowa his permanent home. For the past thirty years he has been a residnet of this county and state. The first ten years of these he lived in Eliot township. Since then his home has been where he died, in Marshall township. In 1874 he was married to Miss Mary Heisel, of Jefferson county. She with two children remain to mourn his loss. The only other near relatives he leaves is a sister in Kansas. The funeral took place from his late residence Saturday, September 1, conducted by Father Jacobsmeyer, of Washington. He had been a lifelong and consistent Catholic and an equally devoted democrat. The bereaved friends have the sympathy of all.
