G. H. Crow died at his home in Port Louisa township, Saturday night, last of a complication of diseases. He was born in Fairfield, Jefferson county, Ohio, in 1815. He came to Iowa in 1836 and has been a resident of the immediate vicinity in which he died, ever since, a period of fifty-seven years. In 1837 he returned to Ohio and married to Miss E. J. Ronalds, who survives him. Of the ten children born to them, seven are living. The four sons acted as pall bearers at the funeral. Mr. Crow died as he long had lived, a member of the U.P. church. he represented this county a short while in the state legislature. This was in 1866. The funeral occurred from the Harrison U.P. church Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Mitchell of Washington assisted by Rev. Condit, preacher at Wapello. An immense crowd of neighbors and friends turned out to pay the last tribute of respect to one of Louisa county's most esteemed pioneer settlers. His was the largest attended of any funeral that ever occurred in Port Louisa township.
