Margaret Jamison Deihl - Margaret Jamison was born near Washington, (c. b.), Lafayette county, Ohio, February 8, 1821, and died at her home in Morning Sun, Friday, July 7, 1893. She was married to George Johnson at the age of 19, and with him and her father's family came to Iowa in the fall of 1840. Louisa county was her home from that time until her death. Her first husband died in 1842 and lies in the first grave made in the old bethel cemetery south of Wapello. Her mother dying about the same time, she became her father's housekeeper for server year, and her younger brothers and sisters have ever since regarded her more in the light of a parent than that of a sister. In 1851 she was married to John Deihl, who died in 1878. Mrs. Deihl leaves four children to mourn her loss. These are Mrs. J. W. Campbell of Eliot township, a daughter by her first husband, and Merit J., George and Lizzie, all of who live in this county. Her other children died in infancy except one, Emma, who died at the age of 17. Of her brothers and sisters, of who there was a large family, only two remain. There are George and Mathew. Mrs. Deihl was a noble Christian character, and had been a member of Methodist Episcopal church for more than half a century. Her home was always noted for hospitality and she was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who was in need. In all the relations of life-as daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend-she performed her duties faithfully. She was a most kind hearted, charitable and affectionate woman, and all who knew her loved and respected her. She will long be mourned by a large circle of friends and relatives. (2nd story of page 5)

page 5 - Mrs. Diehl was stricken with apoplexy last Monday morning and died Friday. The funeral was held at the M. E. church Saturday conducted by Rev. Hoober assisted by Revs. Trumbull Jackson and See. Interment at Bethel.
