James B. Crammond, Marshall township, died at his home of pneumonia, Tuesday morning of this week. Mr. Crammond was born in Putnam, Washington county, New York in 1816. In 1844 he was married to Sarah R. Calkins, who removed from that state to Iowa with him in 1858. They made their home in Columbus City, where Mrs. Crammond died in 1859. In 1861 he was married to Miss Melissa Wilson, daughter of an old settler, and sister of J. B. Wilson, of the Wapello Republican. His second wife died just about one year ago. To the first union were born four children, all of whom survive their parents. These are the sons, W. J. of Harlen, Iowa, and A. R., of Burt, Iowa. The daughters are Mrs. Pierce, of this place, and Eliza Green, of West Bend, Iowa. He also leaves four children by his last wife; Frankie, the eldest, and Zada and Byron, the youngest, at home, and Sylvanus, who is married and lives near Morning Sun. The funeral occurred on Wednesday, services conducted by Rev. Mullen, of Columbus city. The interment was at Columbus City cemetery.
