Columbus Gazette, Columbus Junction, Iowa Thursday, March 16, 1893 page 1

W. W. Hannan, operator at this place, died at the Commerical hotel Wednesday at ten o'clock a. m. His disease was typhoid-pneumonia. He had been sick two weeks and under the doctor's care, but refused to take his bed until Sunday. He had been here only about four months; came from Cedar Rapids, consequently was a stranger to all. He ? at by the name of Wm. Webster, his real name being, as discovered by letters in his possession, Wm Webster Hannan. He came from Malden, Massachusetts, and seems to have belonged to a good family. A sister telegraphed that she would leave for this place Monday evening. A brother at Santa Fe, New Mexico, was also wired, but no response has been received from him. The remains will probably be taken back to Massachusetts on the arrival of the sister. It is sad to died far away from home and friends, and much sympathy is expressed.
