Columbus Gazette, Columbus Junction, Iowa Thursday, February 2, 1893 page 4

Morning Sun, Jan 31- Mr. Aldrich, a son of Geo. Aldrich of this place died at his home in Barnes City last week. The funeral was held here last Saturday, conducted by Rev. Hoober.

(2nd article same page) A number from this neighborhood were called to Morning Sun to attend the funeral of Wm Aldrich, formerly of this place. It will be remembered that he accidentally shot his hand and it had to be amputated. The wound has never healed and his death was caused by blood poison. He leaves a wife and two children, father, mother, two sisters and three brothers to mourn his loss. He was an honest, upright, industrious young man, just at the beginning of life, being only 26 years of age. He was a telegrapher until the accident, since which time he has gone to different places in search of health, but all to no avail. He will long be remembered and mourned by his old schoolmates and many friends.
