James Harvey Harmon

Was born in Union township, Louisa county, Iowa, January 11, 1857, and died in Davenport, March 8, 1891, making him a little over 34 years of age at the time of his death. He was raised on a farm and on February 21, 1882, was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Enoch, who with two children survive to mourn his loss. In 1884 they removed to Columbus Junction where they made their home until 1889, when they removed to Davenport. His death was caused by abcess of the brain, probably the result of catarrh from which he had been a sufferer from childhood. His remains were brought here for interment and laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery at Columbus City. The funeral took place from the U. P. church, Tuesday at 11 o'clock, a. m. Services conducted by Rev. Greer. Besides his wife, a son of seven years, and a daughter two months old, Mr. Harmon leaves his aged parents Mr. and Mrs. James Harmon, of Columbus City, one brother Samuel Harmon, of this place, and three sisters, Mrs. Sam'l Mulhern, Mrs. O. P. Wilcox and Mrs. Taylor Carlisle, all of this place. the mourning friends have the sincere sympathy of all in their great bereavement.
