OBITUARY.

Died, in Colon, Michigan, August 31st, 1889, Alma J. beloved wife of Rev. J. Albright, aged 29 years and 7 months. The deceased was born in Columbus city, Iowa, January 31st, 1860. She was the only daughter of S. H. and Elizabeth Shearer, and was married to Rev. J. H. Albright August 28, 1878, at the home of her parents in Iowa. Two children were born to their union, Elsie and Cecil. In January, 1886, Mr. and Mrs. Albright moved to this village where Mr. Albright has since been pastor of the reform church.

In September following their removal here, Elsie, a bright lovable girl of six years, died of diphtheria. Since that time, Mrs. Albright had been an invalid, and finally that dread disease, consumption, clung to her until death relieved her of her sufferings. Mrs. Albright was a kind and affectionate mother, a good neighbor, and her death has cast a gloom over many homes She had been a member of the Reformed church for 20 years, was a faithful Christian and was president of the ladies aid society of that church until prevented from serving by sickness.

The funeral occurred from the Reformed church at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon, Rev. J. R. Skinner, of Vicksburg, officiating, assisted by Rev. I Rithenberger, of White Oigeon, Rev. T. J. Bacher, of Nottawa and others. The sermon was a worthy tribute to the deceased and was listened to by a large congregation, the church being too small to accommodate more than three-fourths of the people present. Mrs. Albright requested that the text of her funeral sermon be taken from 1 Samuel, third chapter and the latter part of the 18th verse;" It is the Lord; let him do what seemeth good." She also requested that two of her favorite songs be sung int he church: " O shall be satisfied," and " Land of Beulah." This was done with the telling effect by a choir composed of Mrs. J. A. Leidy, Mrs. Robt. Watson, Miss Minnie Prout, Miss Lizzie Watson, A. G. Wood and E. F. Watson. the remains were interred in the cemetery at the church and after the casket has been lowered tint he grave, the members of the ladies aid society of East and West Colon marched around the grace and as they passed, each dropped a bouquet of choice flowers upon all that remained of the one they loved, respected and esteemed so well. Mrs. S. H. Shearer and Arba Shearer, mother and brother of the deceased, of Columbus Junction, Iowa and Mrs. L. Albright and Mrs. M. Watson, mother and sister of Mr. Albright, of Lisbon, Ohio, were here to attend the funeral. Sine residing here, Mrs. Albright has won many friends in the village and surrounding country, Her death, though not unexpected is a serious blow to her husband and many friends. Mr. Albright has the sympathy of a large number of friends in his sad affliction.
