Death of Abram McCleary. -- The sad intelligence comes to us of the death of Abram McCleary at his home in Grandview township, Tuesday morning, the result of a paralytic stroke that overtook him the Sunday evening previous. Mr. McCleary was one of the earliest settlers of this county, having entered and settled upon section 34, the farm on which he died, in 1836. he was married in 1839 to Sarah Trimble, who died in August , last year. Five children survive the aged couple. Mrs. John Studdard, the oldest, lives in Kansas, as does Geo., the youngest son. John McCleary, the other in Muscatine. The other daughters are Mrs. H. B. Chamberlain, who cared for both parents during the last few years, and Mrs. S. P. Buster, who lives adjoining the old homestead. Mr. McCleary was a lifelong democrat and honest man. His death makes another break in the almost depleted ranks of those who first settled in this county.
