Mrs. W. E. Hamilton Funeral Tuesday
Funeral services were held Tuesday for Mrs. W. E. Hamilton, 83, lifetime resident of the Morning Sun community, who died at her home here at noon, Sunday, March 18. Last rites in charge of Rev. Robert T. Dodder, were held at the Methodist church at 2 p.m. following a short survive at the Hamilton home. Burial was in Rice cemetery.
The following sketch of the life of Mrs. Hamilton was read at the funeral service:
Ida Belle Finley, daughter of A. K. Finley and Francis Davenport Finley, was born April 20, 1868 and passed away at her home in Morning Sun March 12, 1951 following an illness of four weeks.
She was a lifetime resident of Louisa county.
She was united in marriage to W. E. Hamilton of Morning Sun on March 20, 1889, March the 20th also being the birth date of Mr. Hamilton. Tuesday marked the sixty-second anniversary of their marriage.
From the date of their marriage until 1919 they lived on a farm near Morning Sun. They then moved to the home in which they were living at the time of her death.
To this union were born seven children, four of whom preceded her in death: Francis Lois who passed away in infancy; Frankie Guy, who passed away at the age of 1 ¼ years; James Russell, who passed away at the age of 12 years; and Mrs. Ermil Weber who passed away in 1937. The other three children, Mrs. Verlee Delzell, Mrs. Claudia McDonald, and Chester W. Hamilton, are all residents of Morning Sun.
At an early age she united with the Methodist church where she took an active part in both the church and the ladies’ organizations so long as her health permitted. She also took great pride in her home where her friends always received a cordial welcome.
In addition to her husband and three children, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ethel Linn of Burlington, fourteen grandchildren, eight grandchildren and a host of friends.
