Fire Victim Buried Here

Word has been received here of the death of James M. Delzell, 82 former Morning Sun resident. Delzell met his death in a fire which destroyed an aged peoples’ home in Amarillo, Texas on December 22.

He was the son of Harvey and Mary Ann Wright Delzell and was born October 29, 1868 on a farm near Morning Sun where he grew to man hood. He taught in the schools of Louisa county and was later associated with his father in the grocery business. Later he moved to Amarillo, Texas.

He is survived by a son, Frederic of Paris, France; a sister Mrs. Cora Riggs, Des Moines, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The body was brought to the Pierce funeral home here where services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Dr. Will M Hughes, officiating. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery.
