Funeral Monday For Mrs. Stroup
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Mrs. William Stroup, 55, who died January 6 at the Ross nursing home where she had been staying for about a week. Services were held in the United Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. following a brief service at the pierce funeral home. Last rites were in charge of Dr. Will M. Hughes. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery.
Mrs. Stroup suffered a severe stroke several years ago and since that time has been in declining health. She was recently brought from Burlington hospital to the Ross nursing home here where she was being cared for at the time of her death.
Ruth Caparoon Stroup was the daughter of William and Jennie Lennin Caparoon. She was born in Morning Sun on October 31, 1895 and had been a lifelong resident of this place. On October 29, 1913 she married William Stroup, who survives as do seven children: Mrs. Loretta Raptis, Detroit, Michigan; Mrs. Dorothy DeVore, Wapello; Mrs. Lucy Westfall, Danville; Robert Stroup, Birmingham, Alabama; Earl Stroup, Burlington; Billy Stroup, Morning Sun; Jake Stroup, Camp Carson, Colorado. Also surviving are three brothers, Earl Caparoon, Cleveland, Ohio; Clyde Caparoon, Kansas City, Mo.; Elmer Caparoon, Morning Sun. There are six grandchildren.
