Funeral Monday for Lucian Gibbs

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Morning Sun Methodist church for Lucian S. Gibbs, 69, who died in Mercy hospital, Burlington on September 12. Final rites were conducted by Rev. Robert T. Dodder and burial was in Elmwood cemetery. Mr. Gibbs had been a patient in the hospital for only three days and until a short time ago he was able to be about town.

The son of Oren and Carrie E. Gibbs, Lucian Smith Gibbs was born in Elmwood, Illinois on April 12, 1883. In early youth he moved with his family to the Marsh community and had since made his home there.

On February 14, 1906 he was married to Jessie Ann Aronhalt, who survives. Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. Carrie Gibbs, Morning Sun, and the following children: Lyle and Merle Gibbs, both of Mt. Union; Dayle Gibbs, Yosemite Park, California; Mrs. Evelyn Whitham, Morning Sun; Mrs. Betty Baker, Duarte, California; Mrs. Hazel Ross, Earlham, and Mrs. Eyloe Rumbolt, Rock Island, Illinois. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren.
