Death of Mrs. Mary Way

Our community was shocked on last Saturday morning by the sudden demise of Mrs. Mary Way. She had previously suffered from a severe attack of la grippe, but had partially recovered from that so as to be among her friends again. But on Sabbath day, April 21, she was taken with a violent chill, which so prostrated her that she did not gain strength to rally from it. On Friday night of April 26th, about midnight by a weak action of the heart she peacefully passed away.

Mrs. Way was a native of Indiana. A number of years ago she came to Morning Sun, and has made this her place of residence ever since. She was highly esteemed by all who knew her, and through her quiet, humble and sincere manner of life won for her a wide circle of friends. In the earlier portion of her life she was converted, and became identified with the Christian church. Coming to the west, and a new country, she did not leave her religion behind. During the later portion of her days she became a member of the Presbyterian church, and was always faithful and consistent.

A great source of comfort to Mrs. Way in her last hours, was the coming of her esteemed niece, Mrs. Sarah C. Ellis of Coatesville, Indiana, whose presence was a means of comfort and cheer to her.

On Saturday afternoon at one o’clock a brief service was held at the late residence, conducted by her pastor. The remains were then taken to the Central station, to be conveyed by rail, under the direction of Mrs. Ellis, whose kindly presence impressed all who had the pleasure of meeting her, to Coatesville, Indiana, there to be laid to rest among relatives and friends.

Mrs. Way will be greatly missed in our community, as she was well known and universally respected.
