Death of Hon. George Jamison

Hon. George Jamison died at his home near Newport Monday forenoon, after a lingering illness, covering several months of that dread disease, cancer. The funeral services were held at Bethel church Tuesday at 3 p.m. conducted by Rev. T. S. Pool of Letts. The interment was at Bethel cemetery.

Mr. Jamison was one of the pioneers of Louisa county. He was born in Ohio, August 25, 1817. He came to Iowa in 1840, and has resided on the old homestead, where he passed away, a great many years. He was married in 1840 to Miss Hulda Herrick, who with the following sons, survives him: John W. , Jacob H., Merit L., and O. B. Mr. Jamison served this county as representative in the Seventeenth General Assembly. He was one of the honored citizens of the county and leaves many relatives and friends to mourn his departure.
